The French Trip
Mrs Blackburn, Mr O'Herlihy and Mr and Mrs Williamson took Preps Five and Six to Normandy for six days in April and it was a wonderful experience for them all. We stayed in a farmhouse and attached gîte in a beautiful, tranquil village setting and we lived life the French way by shopping locally and cooking with authentic French ingredients.
We visited Mont-St-Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, Arromanches (one of the sites of the D-Day landings), Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. The children’s cultural and historical learning was as gratifying as their willingness to engage linguistically with French people wherever we went. They developed greatly in terms of their independence and sociability and some even learned how to chop onions!
We are grateful to the Normandy people for making us feel so welcome and look forward to next year’s trip already
