Music
Music is an important part of school life and offers many opportunities for pupils to develop skills, interests and talents. The subject is taught from Nursery through to Prep 6 and is enriched by a range of extra-curricular activities and lessons.

Large scale events such as the Carol Service and the Summer Musical offer all pupils the opportunity to perform for an audience as part of a large group.
Recorders
Pupils in Prep 2 learn the recorder as part of the music curriculum whilst children in Preps 3, 4, 5 and 6 are able to learn the recorder as an option during lunchtimes.
Recorder players perform at the Christmas Carol Service, School Mass, Open Days, Easter Concert and a variety of other occasions. A recorder group will be taking part in the Norfolk County Music Festival in March 2007.
Instrumental Lessons
Private instrumental tuition is currently offered on the piano, guitar and woodwind instruments. Lessons take place during normal timetable hours and are usually arranged on a rota basis, although sometimes arrangements can be made for tuition to take place before school.
Music Ensemble
Instrumentalists have the opportunity to join the Ensemble from an early stage with the music being arranged to suit all abilities. The Ensemble accompanies the carols at the Christmas Carol Service and plays at various other school events.

Other Events
We have produced 3 Summer Musicals involving all pupils from Preps 3, 4, 5 and 6 with the leading roles taken by Prep 6 pupils. Our productions have been Joseph, The Pied Piper and Dream On.
The Lower School produces a Nativity Play each Christmas.
Each year we are invited to bring musicians or singers to the Community Carol Service at City Church.
Choir
Membership is open to all from Prep 2 – Prep 6. Currently there are about 60 members. The choir rehearses once a week and sing a variety of unison and part songs in different musical styles. We sing at Open Days, Christmas Carol Service, Easter Concert and other school events.
In the past we have taken part in the Norfolk County Music Festival and we sang at the 2005 Gala Concert with Mylene Klass at St. John’s Cathedral.

Some of the Choir went to the Royal Albert Hall Schools’ Prom in 2005 to sing in the Norwich Massed Choir (500 singers drawn from Primary and Middle Schools in the Norwich area).
