Sport

1

We believe that physical education is an essential part of each child’s education. Here at Notre Dame Preparatory school, our aim is for every child to achieve enjoyment and success at sport. Through this success we can promote health, wellbeing, confidence, team work and social skills. We provide two sports lessons a week for all pupils as well as team training and 'open to all' training sessions at lunchtimes and after school.
Sports in the curriculum include Swimming, Football, Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Basketball, Rounders, Gymnastics, Athletics and Cricket. Additionally, they have the opportunity to experience cross-country, dance, yoga, skiing, sailing, circuit training, self evaluation, martial arts and athletics.  The lessons are individually tailored to the abilities of the children from Nursery through to Year 6 pupils, thus giving the children the maximum opportunity to achieve their personal goals.
All children take part in inter-house tournaments as well as the annual School Sports day, where they compete on behalf of their houses.  Lunch time and after school sports clubs are well organised and are always popular. Pupils are encouraged to join outside clubs when appropriate.  School pupils also go off-site, mainly to the University of East Anglia, in order to use nearby astro-turf pitches, swimming pools and athletics tracks.
Notre Dame Prep School’s teams regularly compete against other schools, both independent and maintained, from around the region. Our school teams have achieved success at county and regional levels and many pupils have gone on to play for county teams in various sports, some going on to play at high levels.
