Our Nursery Provision

Here at Notre Dame Preparatory School our Nursery caters for children from the age of two to four years old. Our Nursery benefits from a light and airy room, and a newly created Outdoor Classroom, which enables the children to experience nature and the environment around them.

High staff ratios ensure individual attention and strong pastoral care. Our full day nursery sessions are from 8.30am to 3.30pm but some children attend only part-time. There is, however, a minimum session requirement in our Nursery to give the children consistency throughout the week.

After School Care is available until 5.45pm, for an additional charge.

Caterpillar Room

Our Caterpillar room is well suited to our youngest children who enjoy a friendly, cosy room which is well equipped with age-appropriate resources with direct access to toilet facilities. The children in the Caterpillar room have their own outside space where they can explore and play, developing both interests and physical skills.

Butterfly Room

Once children are ready, they move into our Butterfly room, a lively and interesting environment where they can continue their journey through a range of interactive learning experiences. Children are able to access exciting and stimulating activities in large well-resources inside and outside classrooms. This encourages them to explore and investigate the world around them whilst at play.

Community

Our Nursery places a large emphasis on teaching our children to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. Children learn to take turns, share fairly and treat living things with care and respect. All of our children are encouraged to show and talk about their feelings with staff who act as role models.

Learning

Through a range of different activities and phonic sessions, the children are encouraged to develop their understanding of language and gain confidence in speaking and listening. Emphasis is also placed upon mathematical learning and children are able to recognise many numbers and use them in role play.
