The Prep School at Notre Dame, Norwich

The prep school years at Notre Dame Prep School are an exciting and important time, helping children build strong academic foundations while growing in confidence, curiosity and social awareness.

With the support of experienced and dedicated teachers, our children are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions and enjoy being challenged. This approach promotes a rich understanding of the curriculum and prepares children well for a smooth and confident transition to secondary education.

Learning at Notre Dame Prep School goes beyond academic achievement. Opportunities for critical thinking, morality questions and reflection are woven naturally into the school day, whether through the RE curriculum, thoughtful discussions around a story, exploring a ‘big question’ in assembly, or tackling problem-solving activities in Maths. These moments help children develop open-mindedness, resilience and a balanced sense of wellbeing.

Join our vibrant community and give your child the foundation they need to thrive and succeed.

Independence and Personal Growth

Learning at Notre Dame Prep School goes beyond academic achievement.

Reflection and critical thinking are seamlessly integrated into daily life at Notre Dame Prep. Be it through assembly discussions, our RE curriculum, shared reading, or mathematical problem-solving, we consistently present children with intellectual and moral questions. These daily practices are essential for cultivating open-minded, resilient pupils.

As children progress through the school, they become increasingly independent and take pride in their learning. They are encouraged to set high expectations for themselves, manage their homework responsibly and find a healthy balance between school work and their own extra-curricular interests.

The Arts, Sport and School Life

Beyond the classroom, our children flourish through performance, competition, and leadership.

The highlight of the year in Key Stage 2 is always the summer musical. Performed on the stage of the Playhouse Theatre, the children join together across year groups to put on an accomplished musical performance. Recent musicals have included ‘The Minotaur’, ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘Dragon Days’.

Sporting achievements are celebrated too, with opportunities to represent the school in external fixtures throughout the year. Sports Days are fun competitive events, with Key Stage 2 utilising the excellent facilities of the nearby UEA Sportspark for their events.

Children also play an active role in the wider life of the school through the School Council and charity initiatives such as our Mini Vinnies group, while older children enjoy supporting younger ones. Together, this creates a warm, supportive and positive school community where every child is encouraged to thrive.
